Trikem Salt
Salt supplement for horses
Salt supplement for horses
Salt consists of sodium chloride, which is vital for the horse's salt balance. Horses' source of salt is via the feed, as roughage generally contains low levels of sodium, salt needs to be given as a supplement in the feed. The need for salt increases during the warm months and when the horse loses a lot of fluid in the form of sweat or loose faeces. Lack of salt can lead to a reduced water intake, which can give rise to a number of problems, including colic.

Why Salt?

The need for salt increases during the warm months and when the horse loses a lot of fluid in the form of sweat. There is also an increased need for salt in horses that have suffered from diarrhea or loose stools.
