FAQ - Horse
Feed during rest
"My horse is having some time off—do I need to adjust its diet?"
When a horse is resting, its energy expenditure decreases compared to when it is in training. Therefore, it is a good idea to review its feeding plan to match its new needs and conditions.
If your horse is on a significant amount of concentrate feed, consider reducing it during the rest period and instead supplementing with vitamins and minerals. This helps prevent weight gain and reduces the risk of related issues, such as colic.
