Wounds
"My dog has a wound, what can I use to clean it?"
How you clean your dog's wound depends on the type of injury. Minor wounds can be cleaned and treated at home, but if the wound is large, deep, or shows signs of infection, you should always contact a veterinarian.
Repeat the process as needed in the following days until the wound has healed. Chlorhexidine Spray can be used to disinfect without wetting the area further.
Wounds or cracks in the paw pads can be protected and softened further with Paw Balm after cleaning. The Paw Balm also has mild antiseptic properties to help prevent new bacteria in the affected area.
Protect the wound if needed with a compress and bandage, and use a protective collar to prevent the dog from introducing new bacteria by licking the wound.
Contact a veterinarian if you are unsure.
